Here are some photos from inside and outside the house just before demolition.
Notice the mould growing up the walls and in the bay window. My pine bed was green
with mould underneath when I moved out. Place was a health hazard. I was definitely
sold a dangerous tarted up dump.
Check out the comedy plumbing - which leaks onto the electric socket below. The
front bay window housed the electric meter - which would end up being buried under
the roof during demolition - this should of been removed before the main demolition
started.
This is what was described at the “utility” room - which is nothing more than a bit
of plastic roofing wedged between the two parts of the house. God I’m so glad I
knocked this place down - what a dump.
Demolition
So how do you demolish a house ? - I asked on a forum once and was told “2 hours
with a JCB” - well that’s not quite true. But having seen it done, its not that difficult.
You just need to take your time and work through it methodically. Despite what you
might suspect, the fun part of attacking it with the JCB it almost the last step
you carry out.
There were 2-3 labourers who systematically stripped out each room one by one. Essentially
there were trying to end up with just an empty brick shell - which could be demolished
and taken away as hardcore, which is presumably much cheaper to dispose of than rubble
mixed with wood, plastic and plaster.
